Chief Operating Officer
Yanxia Zhang
Dr. Yanxia Zhang joined Gpixel in 2013, initially as Director of Marketing and Sales. In 2018 she moved into the role of Chief Operation Officer. Prior to joining Gpixel, Yanxia worked as an experimental physicist on e-beam lithography systems and as a research scientist investigating X-ray imaging systems.
Following on from her Master in Applied Physics, Microfabrication from Concordia University Dr. Zhang obtained her Ph.D. in Charged Particle Optics from Delft University of Technology.

Chief Commercial Officer
Wim Wuyts
One of the co-founders of Gpixel NV, Wim Wuyts is the company’s Chief Commercial Officer and in charge of Gpixel’s global marketing and sales activities. Wim received his MSc Electronical Engineering from the University of Antwerp, Belgium in 2002 before taking his first steps into image sensors.
Since that time Wim has built up significant experience in application support, sales, marketing, business development and general management functions in CMOS image sensor companies. He also understands the challenges of growing a company from a startup to a leader in specialty CMOS image sensor products.

Chief Technology Officer
Jan Bogaerts
Jan Bogaerts co-founded Gpixel NV in August 2018 and is Gpixel’s global Chief Technology Officer. In his various roles as senior designer, chief scientist and principal engineer, Jan has been continually pushing the development of images sensors for space, scientific, medical, industrial and aerial imaging applications.
Since receiving MSc and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from the KU Leuven, Jan has been published over 40 times and has contributed to many major conferences and workshops. He also has more than 10 granted patents on the development, design and operation of CMOS image sensors including the world’s first radiation-tolerant APS, 8T global pipelined shutter pixel and ramp ADC architecture.

Chief Strategy Officer
Tim Baeyens
Tim Baeyens is one of the Co-Founders of Gpixel NV in Belgium and currently Chief Strategy Officer of Gpixel. While he holds an MSc in Industrial Sciences, Electromechanical Engineering from the KU Leuven, his focus has been on the commercial side of CMOS image sensor technology. A serial entrepreneur in image sensors, Tim understands what is required to build successful image sensor company from scratch.
In December 2013 Tim took a study sabbatical following an online course with the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Sloan School of Management. He then started to invest as a Business Angel as well as setting up a bespoke pottery business. In August 2018, he returned to images sensors and co-founded Gpixel NV.

Vice-President R&D
Cheng Ma
Dr. Cheng Ma is responsible for R&D activities at Gpixel China. With Gpixel from the start in 2012, he was initially responsible for building up the design team and technical developments as our Design Manager. In 2016 he was promoted to VP R&D. He has worked in a number of roles in CMOS image sensor field. Cheng Ma has authored and co-authored more than 10 technical papers and holds 15 patents in the imaging field.

VP of Pixel and Advanced Technology
Assaf Lahav
Dr. Assaf Lahav joined Gpixel in 2021 as VP of Pixel and Advanced Technology, he previously work at Tower Semiconductor since 2001 and became a Tower Semiconductor Fellow in 2018. From 2014, he led the Image sensor R&D activities in TPsco Japan, and was responsible among other projects for establishing the global shutter pixel platform on both 110nm and 65nm technology nodes and for the development of the 300mm stacked back side illumination platform. From 2008 to 2014, he had been working on low noise global shutter pixel technology and fast sensors on 180nm technology. This work has now manifested in products including Time of Flight (ToF) and structured light 3D, range cameras for automotive applications, industrial and traffic control inspection cameras. From 2005 to 2008 he developed different device and process schemes for improving pixel dynamic range, lowering dark current and read noise, and maximizing sensitivity, enabling the transition from CCD technology to CMOS in fields like cinema digital photography and broadcasting. Since 2002, he has been the technology leader in the Tower CIS R&D group and was responsible for the image sensor 0.18 um technology ramp in Tower Semiconductor’s 200 mm fab in Israel.
